Pool Information
The Chester Area Pool is the result of a generous bequest to the municipalities of Chester, by Virginia June Hinds, a former teacher and swim enthusiast. In 1995, a group of interested volunteers formed the Chester Area Pool Committee to investigate all aspects associated with the construction and operation of an outdoor pool. With strong public interest and the support of Chester Borough, Chester Township and the Chester Township Board of Education, CAP completed construction of the main pool in 1998.

ABOUT THE POOL
The Chester Area Pool is located on 4.7 acres adjacent to the Black River Middle School, on North Road. There is ample parking, and areas for sunbathing, relaxing in the shade and recreational activities. The complex currently consists of a 60’ x 150’ heated main pool, (handicapped accessible), a 76’ x 52’ shallow interactive pool, a filtered infant pool with a nearby play structure, waterslide, and concession stand. The administration building, also provides bathrooms, showers, and changing facilities. Members are encouraged to take part in various pool activities, including social events, swim team and swim lesson programs.
POOL SEASON AND HOURS
Pool opens on Saturday, May 29, 2010 and operates on weekends only (also open Memorial Day Monday) , thru Sunday, June 20, 2010, .
Pool opens 7 days/week beginning on Thursday, June 24, 2010 (or the day after the last day of school for Chester students), through Labor Day, Monday Sept. 6, 2010.
Hours: 11:00 A.M.— 8:00 P.M.
Closing times are adjusted in August due to shorter daylight hours. Changesare posted at the Pool.
EARLY BIRD SWIM
Lap lanes will be open for adults three mornings a week, for 6 weeks from 6:30—8:00 a.m. Fee for this program is $50.00 per person, payable at Borough Hall. A separate check must be provided. Please memo the check as “early bird swim”. A schedule for this program will be posted at the pool.
SWIM LESSONS
Swim lessons are available at the pool through the YMCA. Registration is held at the pool. Informational flyers are available at Borough Hall and at the pool.
SWIM TEAM
The Chester Riptides Swim Team participates in the Morris County Area Summer League. Meets are both at-home and away. A non-competitive Pre-team is also offered, to develop skills. See flyers for full information on qualification.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
In addition to the pool there are other recreational activities available. You can choose from volleyball, tetherball, basketball and shuffle board. Please check bulletin board for social events.
POOL I.D. BADGES
All pool members, including infants and children, are required to present a current C.A.P. Photo I.D.when entering the pool. ID’s for new members or those who have lost their ID can be made at the pool.
GUEST POLICY
Each pool membership is allowed5paid guests per day (space allowing) Members mustaccompany and remain with theirguests at the pool. Caregivers do notqualify under this policy. Guest fees are non-refundable.

Half season Membership Rate of $200.00 (July 26, 2010 thru Sept 6, 2010) is for NEW CHESTER RESIDENTS ONLY. Proof of residency and payment of full Initiation fee is required.
Family Membership—includes children who reside at parent’s home, are 21years or younger or up to 25 if a full time student.
Single Membership-Age 18+ (or 15 with parental permission). (Must be 18 prior to 5/30/10).
Senior Membership—At least 62 years of age on or before 5/30/10.
Empty Nester—A husband and wife household with no children.
Caregiver must accompany child/children and be at least 16 years of age or older. Fee is in addition to caregiver family’s membership.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Chester Area Pool may request an application by sending a letter with their name, address & phone number to: CAP, 300 Main St., Chester, NJ 07930, or email Ana Hopler at ahopler@chesterborough.org and put "pool wait list" in the subject line.
Chester Borough offices are open Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. New members will be admitted on a first come basis as openings become available.
